Local Startup Puts Buyers In The Driver Seat

Introduction of self-serve test drive platform, Stacauto, enables customers to experience vehicles on their own at select auto dealers in North Carolina.

CHARLOTTE, NC (July 9, 2020) — Customers in the market for their next vehicle can now stay safe and save time through the self-serve test driving platform Stacauto. The local technology startup aims to simplify car buying, providing customers access to test drive vehicles on their own. Customers select a preferred vehicle, time, and location online, confirm their driver license, and arrive at the dealership to access keys from a lock box in the Stacauto parking space. Once the test drive is complete, customers simply return keys to the lock box and are free to depart, continuing the digital retail experience through a dealer introduction and vehicle offer.

According to the 2019 Cox Auto Buyer Journey, online research comprises 61% of total time invested in purchasing a vehicle. However, the test drive remains a critical path to acquisition and serves as an opportunity to redefine the customer journey.
